We have the Memorial Hall meeting where you can come along and listen to what we've been doing and what we're hoping to do and you can ask questions and make suggestions and have a chat too!
David Reeve, former Sandringham Royal Protection Officer will be giving a talk on Thursday April 4th at the Hall. Tickets are £6 and include a glass of wine/soft drink and the talk starts at 7pm for 7.30pm. To order tickets, email email@example.com or call Clare Winkley on 01328 831848. For more information visit their website at www.friendsofbinhampriory.weebly.com. There will also be a champagne raffle.
Our wonderful chairman, Andrew Cuthbert, drew this pen and ink portrait of the Hall for our new Lynx advert. Isn't it brilliant?
...the theatre critic who went to review a show, only to walk out half way through? He (it was probably a he) filed his copy and went to have a delicious and possibly rather boozy supper. Unfortunately, when he woke up in the morning he learned that the theatre had burned down but his review, slating the show, was already printed. There was a bit of a fuss.
In the past two editions of our lovely local Lynx, I have managed to do a similar thing although nothing got burned down (!). In the first I said how wonderful the cookery demo had been and in the second I said how brilliant the panto was. At the last minute both these lovely occasions had to be cancelled but the Lynx had already gone to print. I'm so sorry. It was a daft thing to do - am still a learner with the Lynx copy deadlines - and I hope very much that I won't do it again!
Huge apologies but very sadly the panto on Saturday 12th has been cancelled - illness and lurgy has struck the Players and even Dr Theatre and Dr Showbusiness have been unable to help this time. We wish them speedy recoveries.
And so it starts! 2019 - goodness, how quickly the year goes round. What's the betting that we will continue to say this every single New Year but never mind. Cliches are there to be used, in my opinion. We start with a bang on Saturday as the Wighton Players storm into town with their new panto. It starts at 7.15pm and tickets are available from Liz on 01328 830519 or Andy on 01328 830178. I'm awfully tempted to add a panto line but am manfully resisting.
Oh yes I am...
There are some lovely things happening in the run up to Christmas. On Monday 17th at 7.15 there are Carols by the Green outside the Chequers. On Tuesday 18th there is a Carol Service in the Priory at 6.30pm with the Iceni Choir which is going to be fabulous. On Christmas Eve in the Priory there is a Children's Crib Service at 4pm and the Late Night Communion (love this one) at 11pm and on Christmas Day at 10.30am there is a service of carols and readings. It couldn't be better!
We hope to see you at the special Poppy Appeal coffee morning on Friday at 10am. Coffee, chat, raffle, bring and buy sale. If you're free, come along!
The service starts at the Priory at 10.45am with a minute's Silence at 11am. 12 men from Binham never returned after World War 1 :
W E CLARKE
E E COE
A G CURSON
B J FICKLING
H C GRANGE
E E HOOKE
W H MALES
H H WYER
T C YOUNGMAN
And 5 Binham men from World War 2
F E A RIVETT
Their photos are proudly displayed in the Hall and the original Hall was acquired and dedicated as a memorial to the fallen - hence it's name. With Remembrance Sunday falling on the Centenary of the Armistice, the Hall is hosting a particularly poignant tribute after the service in the Priory. Please come along.
